Personal Economic Turmoil

If anyone has experienced the wrath of our economy it was been be. After being laid off from my job and drowning in credit card debt I had to file for bankruptcy with my NYC bankruptcy attorney. I worked as a long shore man for almost 20 years before I was laid off. My family was struggling to make ends meet even when I was working and after I lost my job I needed help.

Many people think that bankruptcy is the ultimate rock bottom procedure, but let me tell you, it helped me immensely. The creditors would not stop calling me and hounding voice-mail box. You have no idea the peace of mind you get when you don't have to worry about people calling you and worrying about making payments on time. Although, filing for bankruptcy can have negative effects on your credit score for a few years it is definitely worth it if you out of options and will power. I recently good a job in a new union with great benefits. Although the time I spent out of work was tough, now I am on a path to secure my families future.

The one thing that got me through all this pain and suffering was my wife. Not only did she help me find my new job but she put in extra hours at her job to ensure that we wouldn't lose our house. Thankfully, we only have one child, so we didn't require a lot of income to help out. Having a spouse that can have your back in times of tragedy is a godsend, buts that's another topic. I hope if you are ever struggling with debt and bills that you speak with an experienced attorney about the situation. Don't ever be too proud for help. You may think you're a bigger man if you handle everything on your own, but a true man can admit when he has a problem and needs help.
